Toyota hasn't announced the engine, or even made the supercar official, but Toyota was quoted to be considering either their V-10 or a twin-turbo version of the LS sedan's V-8.
The new V-10 was to be Toyota Formula 1 based engine, but the Formula 1 series now uses only a V-8, and the street engine has been developed with diminished connection to the racing engine.

2012 LEXUS LFA With Prices Previews and Images

Upcoming Cars in 2012 LEXUS LFA With Prices, Specification And Previews and Images.

exus has announced the pricing for the 2012 LFA supercar. For a whopping $375,000 you can get one, which isn't including the delivery, processing and handling fee.

That price is sure to go even higher when you select options like the Lexus Navigation System, Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound system and Lexus Enform™ with Safety Connect.

Only 500 LFAs are expected to be produced with production starting in December.

The 2012 LFA is powered by a 4.8L V10 that generates 552 horsepower at 8,700 rpm and 354 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 6,800 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox (ASG) with paddle shifters. It is capable of reaching 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 202 mph.

Lexus today announced the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $375,000 for the all-new 2012 LFA supercar. The MSRP does not include a delivery, processing and handling fee.

LFA, the flagship for the F portfolio of Lexus performance models is the fastest Lexus production car ever built and delivers world-class design, performance, and cutting-edge technology. The LFA is only available as a two-year lease with the intent to purchase. Only 500 LFA will be built worldwide.
Even in our gilded age of $5 coffee libations and $10,000 plasma TVs, the price shocks like a hornet sting: a Toyota that costs... nearly $400,000.
True, the limited-edition, two-seat, rear-drive LFA supercar, due to appear here in early 2011, will hide its Toyota roots behind the velvet rope of its maker's Lexus brand, but the sticker is staggering nonetheless. The most expensive model in the current Lexus portfolio, the LS 600h hybrid luxury sedan, starts at $106,910.

"The LFA is a halo car for the F marque," says national manager for Lexus Advanced Business Development Paul Rohovsky, referring to the Lexus F performance division (think "AMG Mercedes") behind the IS F sport sedan. Indeed, Rohovsky is candid: "The LFA will raise passion for the brand, an admitted Lexus shortcoming,

Upcoming Cars in 2011 Lexus LFA Preview

Long anticipated and finally in production, the Lexus LFA is the brand’s first “super sports car” and with the specs it has under its carbon fiber hood, it has every intention of living up to the title.

The Lexus LFA won’t be the sickest or most supreme sports car ever made (see Bugatti), but it is getting enough attention from reviewers and sports car enthusiasts to warrant that kind of power. Built almost entirely in-house by Toyota from design to production, the production of this vehicle was an adventure for the engineers at Lexus and they intend for it to be a similar adventure for the few owners they intend to sell their limited stock to.
